Gender-sensitive municipal budgets to make women's working conditions more flexible

The social protagonism of women linked to municipalism was driven by different factors such as the economic crises of the 1980s and 1990s, structural adjustment policies and neoliberal reforms imposed by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. One of the local spaces such as the municipality acquired importance to withstand the effects of the structural adjustments of the last decades. The presence of women in labor centers, food subsistence programs and associations energized the community social fabric and showed the strength of women as mediating agents of social welfare.
