Abstract

This article is about how to read autobiographies from a social science perspective, specifically from a feminist viewpoint. In Following my mother’s footsteps, Alexandra Pascalidou (2001) relates her experiences with racism as a foreigner in Stockholm, Sweden. One posible conclusion is the integration of foreign women in Sweden’s labor market, which is colored by racial discrimination. In addition, the fight for social justice is contradictory at the legal level.
