Abstract

History takes us back to the facts and events of the past; historians relive part of the events that gave life to societies. Avital Bloch, PhD in History with a major in the United States from Columbia University in New York City, is a professor-researcher at the Centro Universitario de Investigaciones Sociales and Margarita Rodríguez, a graduate of the Instituto Politécnico Nacio-nal, with a diploma in Gender Studies and Family and Succession Law from the University of Colima, is a member of the Colima Society of Historical Studies. From the perspective of the two authors of the book Colima, la ciudad, en el siglo xix: Espacios, población, producción y mujeres, we are transported to the first half of the nineteenth century, a period that was fundamental for the political, economic and social events following the significant changes of Mexico's independence, which redefined new legal and institutional structures. The authors of the book take us into an analysis based on the conditions of women and men in Colima during the nineteenth century.
