The highway was clear. A warm sun tinged the as-falto orange and caressed my face through the Fiat's moonlight. It was Friday and, like every week, my sister and I were going to eat at mom and dad's house. Elena was a terrible driver. She had the uncanny ability to make the shortest drive take forever. During the three short years I had been studying in Madrid I had discovered, thanks to her, about 40 different ways of getting (and not getting) to the small town in Valladolid where we grew up.
