Interventions With Refugees Within Social Work Practice: An Exploratory Systematic Review
Keywords:
refugee, intervention, social work, exploratory systematic reviewAbstract
Nowadays, the volume of refugees is much higher than some years ago. These are individuals who experience extreme situations to, for the most part, achieve a common goal: an improved quality of life. Like all vulnerable groups, refugees present a series of characteristics, and due to their experiences, they can develop different mental health disorders. This study’s goal was to describe which interventions were more appropriate when working with refugees. Therefore, an Exploratory Systematic Review was carried out, which established different inclusion criteria, scientific sources, search strategies, selection and classification of articles, study variables, and data extraction. Among the main results, there was a need to point out that, although literature that answered the research question was found, it was considered that the empirical evidence presented was unsatisfactory. The main results of the articles that were finally included in the Exploratory Systematic Review dealt with useful paradigms, models, techniques and academic courses. Thus, it can be considered that there is not enough empirical evidence on this topic or that it is necessary to use a different search strategy than the one used in this paper.
