Abstract

To be able to tell about the practices of stop being young, this article is organized into three sections. In the first section, two concepts are presented, the transition to
adulthood in regards to a set of practices and events that are recognized as markers of the distancing from the juvenile, events that are institutionalized, and prompt the social representations of being an adult. The other concept is the one that we call imaginaries of stop being Young; those take place in a symbolic dimension that recognizes the local and specific elaborations about what it is defined
and sanctioned as stop being young. In the second section, Young adults, their view about stop being young, and their
transition to adulthood is shown. In the third section, it is shown the relevance of the grandfather’s participation in the support and care of the children and grandchildren, in an exposition that crosses with a series of imagery obtained
from biographical stories derived from 42 interviews: from there it is possible to observe the definition and resignification that young adults from Puebla and Monterrey give to their concrete practices in their transitions to adulthood. It is also shown that these men and women create strategies that allow them to solve what they consider the issues and concerns when you are not that young.
