Francisco Vázquez García states in his excellent introduction to the anthology Historia de la homosexualidad femenina en Occidente: “In the Iberian world as a whole and in Latin America, studies on lesbohistory are still exceptional” (Vázquez García, 2023, p. 6). This statement is by no means foolish; rather, it reflects the vicissitudes of the book in condensing the analysis of love between women as a problematic of identity and modern definitions, the shaping of ideas about sexuality and women's bodies, and the political and affective dimensions of female companionship and solidarity. In many instances, these aspects encode lesbianism and feminism as mutually tautological entities
