Voices in resistance
Keywords:
gender, representation, resistanceAbstract
The objective of this article is to discuss the con cept of «gender resistance», centering attention on a critical reflection about the role of «protest» and its influence on oral testimony about margi nalization in Swiss society. In order to do so, I will analyze protest songs, texts, and interviews of the Swiss rapper, Nabila Abdul Fatta. The texts invite us to reflect on the debate about «representation, gender, and difference» from a fe minist and antiracial perspective. They also visualize «woman» (in the singular) as unprotected, even from her own «feminist collective» (in the plural)—given that this responds to hegemonic patterns (Western and sexist); attitudes that are contrary to growing socialsolidarity and the crystallization of parallel alliances based on similar aspects of gender, such as race, class, and sexuality, etc.
