Abstract

The purpose is to account for changes in the composition of the labor force and employment with a gender perspective in two municipalities of Colima: Colima and Villa de Álvarez, taking census records and microdata from the 2000 and 2010 population censuses of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi). From the analysis of the working population of the selected municipalities, an increase in vulnerable employment and precarious employment was observed, more among men than among women; in addition, there is less inequity towards women, as female unemployment is lower than male unemployment and women have more benefits than men. However, there are fewer women with the benefit of retirement savings, which defines job permanence.
