Female drug addicts in a therapeutic community in Granada, Spain

Abstract

This work centers on the study of female addicts, abusers of different types of drugs, in the com­ munity phase of therapy within the «Human Project» in Granada, Spain. It sets out to analy­ ze some characteristics of drug­dependent wo­ men, the consequences of the use and abuse of drugs, and its relation with justice; concluding with a proposal for some specific group inter­vention forms. Research results show that there are significant gender differences in terms of contextual reality and consumption patterns.

Chipriota. Terminó el doctorado en educación social, fundamentos y metodología en el Departamento de Pedagogía, en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación por la Universidad de Granada. Actualmente es tesista del doctorado en educación social. El tema de su investigación es «Análisis de los contenidos y de la praxis socioeducativa de la Comunidad Terapéutica de Proyecto Hombre.
