Abstract

With the purpose of elucidating how women ex perience and overcome their situation of poverty, I utilize the concept of poverty that refers to the access to basic services; the degree of self autonomy, respect, dignity, and selfesteem each person holds; and the possibility of participating in collective decisionmaking processes. Even though men and women share the condition of
poverty, in the study sample, poverty is lived in a differentiated manner according to gender. Fe male voices show that in Guerrero it is necessary to not only increase and improve services, but also the access to women’s resources, time, and space for the reflection of their practices and interactions
