Two years ago, when GénEros magazine celebrated its eighteenth anniversary, Sara Lourdes Cruz told me: “We had a daughter who is coming of age today”. That's how it was, so I take this space to mention and thank many of her many fairy godmothers, who gave her gifts and marked their footprints in the early years of its publication. Although I have not been in contact with the journal for some time, I have followed its achievements and vicissitudes: it has become a publication of academic excellence. Its format, number of pages, directories and organization have been substantially modified and the editorial treatment is now of an academic, specialized and research nature in gender studies.
