International migration and domestic and care work: some experiences of women from Tetlanohcan, Mexico.
Keywords:

This article explores the reconfiguration of domestic and care work practices in the U.S.-Mexico migration context. Through in-depth interviews we identified a plurality of women's experiences and their participation as caregivers in either country: from those who care for the children of migrants, to those who return to Mexico to care for their grandchildren or elderly parents. This allows us to advance in the analysis of the dynamism of domestic and care work in a globalized context and to make visible how, despite the transformations in these activities, it continues to be an unpaid work that is mainly carried out by women.
