Abstract

In this article, I analyze the invisibility of women as social subjects in reading books used in the Mexican socialist school during the 1930s, which proposed an innovative and revolutionary new education, not only in its modern teaching content and methods based on reason and science, but also basically for its ideological social functionand the goal of constructing a new society, more just and equalitarian, in which men and women would have the same development opportunities. For this reason, new school books, especially reading texts, were published under the surveillance of the federal government, in order to diffuse the ideals of equality
and the creation of a new society among young readers in elementary school.
