Education, gender and feminism in the places of the memory

Abstract

Based on the idea that places of memory play a role in the construction of imaginaries and social representations, I analyze them as formative spaces in which men and women learn, reinforce or reconstruct gender identities, values and subjectivities that can influence the reproduction or transformation of the traditional gender order, thus constituting a key advocacy space for the feminist struggle.

Luz Maceira Ochoa, El Colegio de México

M.A. in Gender Studies from the Interdisciplinary Program of Women's Studies at El Colegio de México. She is currently studying for a PhD in Educational Research at Cinvestav. The present research is part of her doctoral thesis.
