as a Female Physician in Mexico City

Abstract

This paper deals with the changes and continuities in the professional practice of Medicine in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in the municipality of Tláhuac. This
study focuses on the experience of Andrea, a physician who works in a doctor’s office next to a drugstore. Therefore, this research was carried out with qualitative techniques.
This article is organized first, by emphasizing theoretical elements and context issues related to the setting of Mexico City, as well as elements of mobility and gender.
Secondly, the condition of public health services (doctor’s offices, hospitals) public and private; both spots in the pre-pandemic context. Third, the presentation of the case study and the findings with emphasis on the changes and continuities within the practice of Medicine, the options of urban mobility and way of life. Within the outstanding findings, it is possible to find a greater vulnerability in the practice of Medicine in doctor’s offices that are attachments to a drugstore. Changes in the travel patterns due to gender and the context. Finally in the conclusions, what stands out are the elements of gender, mobility, and the medical profession.
