Gender roles have been reproduced and determined by sociocultural constructs for hundreds of years, thus promoting stereotyped behaviors based mainly on biological and anatomical characteristics of people, favoring gender roles, such as the man -provider- who hunted and the woman -caregiver- who gathered and took care of the home (Inmujeres, 2004).
