Abstract

This article reflects on the concept of intellectual networks applied to literary magazines, especially to El Hijo Pródigo; publication published by Octavio G. Barreda that emerged in 1943 as a response to the separatism between writers caused by the Second World War. Likewise, it is a cartography that allows us to reveal the names of some of the national and foreign writers who gathered in its pages with the purpose of protecting the primordial values of literature and art against the threat of restricting freedom of expression.

Author Biography

Dayna Díaz Uribe, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

Mexican. She holds a degree in literature from the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos, a master's degree in Hispanic American literature from El Colegio de San Luis, and a doctorate in Hispanic literature from the same institution. She completed a research stay at the University of Texas at Austin and another at the José Martí National Library of Cuba. She has a postdoctorate from the Institute of Philological Research at UNAM, where she currently works and teaches in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the same institution. Her research focuses on literary magazines, 20th century Mexican and Cuban literature, the epistolary genre, rescue, and critical editing. She is the author of Itinerario intelectual de Antonio Acevedo Escobedo (UNAM, 2020), De adentro hacia afuera: El mundo alucinante de Reinaldo Arenas (COLSAN, 2024), and several essays in collective books. She has also published articles in national and international journals and has participated in various national and international conferences. She is a member of the National System of Researchers Level I. She is the founder of Eureka: Permanent Seminar for Research and Restitution of 20th-Century Mexican Authors.
