Information For Authors
The topic of the article and review must be related to the theme of PORTES, Mexican Journal of Studies on the Pacific Basin.
The article must be based on original, unpublished research, meet the quality of its purpose, and not have been submitted to another publication. It should possess intrinsic clarity, coherence in writing, respect grammatical and syntactic norms, as well as the literary genre in which it is presented. The results should logically follow from the developed arguments.
Publication proposals must adhere to high standards. Data falsification, plagiarism, including the double publication of one’s own work without appropriate references, are not accepted practices by this journal.
All works undergo a double-blind review process that lasts approximately 4 to 5 weeks, maintaining the anonymity of reviewers and authors. Reviewers will be specialists in the subject matter. If a third review is necessary, it will proceed accordingly. In all peer-reviewed and published texts in the journal, the dates of receipt and approval will be indicated. Each work will receive a review result in one of the following three evaluations:
- Publishable without substantial changes
- Publishable with revision by the author
- Not publishable
If the result is “Publishable with revision by the author,” the author must address the review comments within no more than 15 days. The author must send two files: one containing the final version and another indicating the changes made. The journal will return the corrected work to the reviewers for final approval and publication within no more than 2 months.
The maximum length for articles is 30 pages and a minimum of 15, and for reviews, a maximum length of 4 pages, double-spaced, in Times New Roman font size 12, and without hyphens at the end of the line.
The title should be in uppercase and lowercase, in Spanish and English, centered; it should give a clear idea of the content of the work. Subtitles will be presented in the same way and aligned to the left. The use of bold for these is free and at the author’s discretion. All pages must be numbered.
The article should contain at the beginning a summary in Spanish and English (abstract) of no more than one page, three to six keywords (in Spanish and English), introduction, development, and conclusions; notes, bibliography, tables, charts, graphs, photographs, drawings, diagrams, flowcharts, maps, plans, when necessary.
Tables, charts, and graphs should be submitted in a separate file, ordered, numbered, and with the indication of the page where they should be placed. All should be created with Microsoft Excel and inserted into Microsoft Word using the program’s features. Below each table, chart, or graph, a source note should always be included. It should be noted that the interiors are not printed in color.
In the case of photographs, drawings, diagrams, flowcharts, maps, and plans, the file format should be tif or jpg. The file names should refer to their content and have a numerical order. In all cases, the minimum acceptable resolution is 300 dots per inch (dpi). Below each illustration, include its corresponding explanatory caption and a source note. Similarly, formulas and equations should be created with Microsoft Word using the program’s features.
In a separate file, authors must send their contact information, including their full name, academic degree, name of the affiliated institution; communication information (phone numbers, email), and ORCID. Additionally, they must include the letter of originality and publication authorization.
For reviews, they must include the complete bibliographic record of the work to be reviewed (title, author, year, publisher, country), and if possible, attach the cover image in JPG format.
Important Aspects that Every Work Must Respect
The introduction must justify the nature of the work and its relevance, and, if applicable, the hypothesis that will support the structure of the text.
Tables and graphs must be self-explanatory, without the need to refer to the text. Figures must be submitted in tif or jpg format, and tables in the program in which they were created in DOC, DOCX, XLS, or XLSX format.
Citations and/or references must be presented according to the APA 7.0 system.
