Abstract

I am the king of light,

and she is the queen of darkness,

with the hope that one day,

in a corner of the universe,

we will dance together, with our rounded bodies,

to a song composed by the sea (p. 27).

Author Biography

Mikel Ruíz, Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte

Mikel Ruiz. Chicumtantic, Chamula, Chiapas (1985) is a Tsotsil writer, scholar, and literary critic. He holds a degree in Spanish American Language and Literature from the Autonomous University of Chiapas (UNACH), a Master's degree in Contemporary Spanish American Literature from the Austral University of Chile (UACH), and a PhD in Social Sciences and Humanities from the Center for Higher Studies of Mexico and Central America (CESMECA/UNICACH), specializing in literary, artistic, and cultural discourse. He has written two novels and co-authored two books. His work has been included in six anthologies, and he has published several essays and articles.
