Resumen

El estreno de la película surcoreana Broker en junio de 2022 ha supuesto una mayor visualización en los últimos meses del fenómeno Baby Box, un sistema que permite que bebés sean dejados anónimamente en unas cajas acondicionadas para ello.

En Corea del Sur este sistema tiene su origen en la iniciativa personal del pastor protestante Lee Jong-rak, y hasta marzo de 2020 más de 1.700 bebés habían sido rescatados. Las acciones de este pastor y del equipo que le ayuda han generado revuelo, ya que se trata de un tema polémico, con un marco legal ambiguo y complejo, y que produce reacciones sociales muy dispares. Este estudio incluye un estudio somero del marco legal y las principales reacciones producidas. Este artículo pretende ayudar a la visualización del fenómeno Baby Box y sumar un pequeño grano de arena que ayude a su resolución.
