About the Journal

Scientific articles, essays and reviews received for possible publication should explicitly address the issue of culture from any point of view: historical, sociological, anthropological, semiotic, philosophical, etcetera.

We define culture as the vision of the world (memory, representation, perception, history, expectations), the activities and social practices (customs, traditions, rituals, modes of behavior) through which human beings relate to their environment (natural and urban), to themselves, to other human beings and to the world in general, in order to give coherence to the reality that surrounds them and provide meaning to their existence.

Each text (article, essay or review) received by ESTUDIOS SOBRE LAS CULTURAS CONTEMPORÁNEAS, is submitted to refereeing by recognized specialists in the addressed problematic with the objective of evaluating its scientific quality, as well as the pertinence of its publication.

The arbitration is carried out by at least two external peers under the modality known as “double blind”, which is based on the rigorous anonymity of both the evaluators and the authors of the submitted papers, in such a way that both the seriousness and the full confidentiality of the process are guaranteed.

The main objective of our publication is to contribute to the evaluation not only of the texts produced by Cultural Studies researchers, but also of their research methods. It is not by chance that the methodological section is what distinguishes our journal.
