Detrás de la transición presidencial de 2017 en Corea del Sur: implicaciones de la participación ciudadana en la comprensión de la democracia y sus formas de ejercerla. Un análisis de la Revolución de las Velas y sus efectos

Este artículo constituye un análisis reciente del momento coyuntural en Corea del Sur que dio inicio a mediados de 2016 a raíz de una serie de protestas estudiantiles convertidas en multitudinarias manifestaciones pacíficas sabatinas y acuña das como Revolución de las Velas, cuyos objetivos se centraron en demandar la renuncia de la entonces presidenta Park Geun-hye y en la reconstrucción de la nación. El referido momento coyuntural culminó con la destitución y aprisionamiento de la entonces presidente Park Geun-hye en marzo de 2017 y la llamada a elecciones prematuras para el 9 de mayo de 2017, de donde emergió como presidente Moon Jae-in, garantizando con ello la transición de poder en favor de la corriente política progresista, después de casi una década de gobiernos conservadores en el poder.
