Feminist City:
A Field Guide by Leslie Kern
Abstract
Dr. Leslie Kern is a specialist in urban and feminist geography, gentrification, city and gender, environmental justice, among other topics. She is on the faculty of Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada. Another publication she has authored is Sex and the Revitalized City: Gender Condominium Development, and Urban Citizenship from 2010. In the introduction to her new book Feminist City, 'Men's City,' Kern narrates that women's bodies are still perceived as a source of urban problems. Indeed, we still experience the city through a set of physical, social, economic and symbolic barriers that define our daily lives in profound ways.
