Abstract

The article examines the contribution of the Feminist Movement of Colima (Movimiento Feminista de Colima, MFC) in the creation of the Women’s Support Center (Centro de Apoyo a la Mujer, CAM). The objective was investigated to what extent, how the Mfc influenced this policy and what factors facilitated the policy. The research uses social movement theory and a step-by-step methodology to reveal the mechanisms of influence of feminists. The main findings show that the MFC, indeed, played a role in the creation of the CAM. Among the facilitating factors, within the political context, the presence of a woman in the State Executive Branch was salient.
