Abstract

The book entitled Age Groups and Social Sciences: Age as a Sociocultural Marker and Category of Analysis1 is the product of the Permanent Seminar on Age Studies, composed of academics from El Colegio del Estado de Hidalgo; Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology; FES Iztacala, UNAM; Autonomous University of Tlaxcala; University of Colima; Autonomous University of Coahuila; and Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí. The document “falls within the field of cultural studies, and one of the main aspects present in these lines corresponds to the basic concern about the role that culture plays in individual and social dynamics” (Ruiz and Fernández, 2024, p. 6). It is divided into two thematic sections and seven chapters, in which the Freudian approach is revisited to explain cultural importance as a constructor of age.
